Control bleeding by biting firmly on gauze to help form a blood clot. A damp tea bag also can be used and has ingredients which
aid in clotting. 30 to 40 minutes should suffice. Change gauze as needed.
-
Reduce any swelling by placing an ice pack near the area for ten minutes. Remove for five minutes and repeat as needed.
-
Use medications as directed. Try over–the-counter medications if you are driving, as these often provide pain relief without the
side effects.
-
Avoid area when eating or brushing, as this could dislodge the blood clot. Drinking through a straw and smoking may also
dislodge or breakdown the clot. This could also result in a painful condition known as dry socket.
-
Keep the area clean. Warm, gentle saltwater rinses may be done the following day.
Slight oozing of blood from the extraction site may occur for several days. If bleeding is hard to control, swelling or pain increases the
following day, or you believe you’ve had a reaction to your medication, please feel free to .
